Overall Summary
1. What do you like best about your school?
Overall Summary
  • - The oppurtunities afforded to the students. - The clinical years at Grady are an experience not to be missed. - Cooperation between students. - Quality of education and responsibility in patient care - the camaraderie among my fellow classmates- there was barely any competition and people made an effort to work together and help others out in times of need. - clinical experience - Clinical opportunities - Atmosphere - The Atmosphere is what the students make of it...and with a very diverse student body, it's very exciting. The curriculum and program is very dynamic - each year, the entering class has a different experience... this provides a means for continual improvement...which the faculty work hard to do. Plus everybody around me is invovled with a zillion different things - its hard to keep track of (overwhleming at first). - curriculum provides very good preparation for boards - they genuinely care about your well-being,and are very willing to allow significant others to transfer (with proper qualifications, of course) - While many are already familiar with Emory's reputation as a high-powered research institution, those who attend as medical students come to know Emory's hidden human side with its significant emphasis on patient care, compassion, and humanism in medicine in its students and teaching.

12. What do you like least about your school?
Overall Summary
  • - The facilities, ie classrooms, library. - Conservative, specialty-focused, but that seems to be improving. - Grades. - No study space - The classrooms are a bit archaic. - Teaching to the boards, too much lecture time - Perhaps a negative thing would be that the dynamic atmosphere tends to put the student in the role of a guinea pig, at times. However, feedback changes this, so its hard to point to a specific negative item, because they actively change this for the next class of students (i.e. many, many things 1 year older students warned me about had been already changed). Still, this comes with the very good that comes with change and growth... - gossip - Many people argue that it's too traditional, but the administration is very receptive to student input, is currently in a period of transition, I believe, and is constantly considering ways to improve medical education in general.

13. Please share any other thoughts you may have about your school.
Overall Summary
  • - They do listen to our concerns. - I really liked the way the exams were set up: All of our exams occurred on one day per month. This allowed us to have some down time after the exam day to relax. - Emory has sincerely impressed me. I think its the warmth of the administration and sincerity of the faculty that mesh so well with the dynamic and exciting atmosphere. They are open, and respond quickly, to all issues. - great area, great people, lots of opportunity but you have to be motivated to go after it - Emory is an awesome place. The students here work hard but are also normal, everyday human beings who seem to enjoy life.
