  • - Strong Clinical Curriculum during years 3 and 4- a good preparation for residency training. - clinical teaching - Excellent preparation for residency and licensure exams. Excellent medicine, family, neuro, and ortho rotations in 3rd year. - graduating. - Ability to interact with diverse patient populations. Availability and oppurtunities to socialize in culturally diverse areas. - Great clinical education as a result of excellent attendings and a wide variety of settings to experience - inner city hospitals, Georgetown (tertiary care hospital), small community hospital, major trauma center, military hospital, VA, etc. DC is also a great city with outstanding restaurants, nightlife, museums, etc. - The clinical teaching and experiences are extremely strong--you really learn, even as a 3rd year, how to manage patients. What has made me happiest is that the student body is extremely active in a WIDE variety of extracurricular activities--all kinds of athletic events, to artistic events, talent shows, to going out to party, to pot luck dinners, etc. - location, ability to match a lot of students in competitive specialties, student body

12. What do you like least about your school?
Overall Summary
  • - The facilities leave a lot of room open for improvement. - relatively Weak basic science curriculum, although you are prepared more than adequately for Step 1 (the class averages 3/4 standard deviation above the national mean on Step 1) Not enough Small Group Learning. Too much Lecture time with very average instructors during the basic science years. - cost - Not supportive of women, and the required four months of surgery (over the course of years 3 and 4) is basically a service obligation with little to no learning. - the administration is not at all supportive until you are getting ready to leave and then they help you as much as possible. They are concerned about your stats much more than about you. - Lack of parking availability. Expensive standard of living nearest to the university. Very expensive meals at hospital. These expensive may seem minor, but can collectively eat up a large portion of student's living expenses. Library is small and hours don't tend to coincide with medical student lifestyle (not 24hrs), may need to utilize undergrad library for larger facilities. - Cost, parking, food. Parking is expensive for students (I ride my bike) and food is similarly expensive (I pack my lunch). - It's definitely antiquated in its technology. - Cost!

13. Please share any other thoughts you may have about your school.
Overall Summary
  • - A great program to prepare you for your Clinical career, although you've really got to tough out the first two very unexciting years. - the training is very thorough, you will know what you need for the boards, for the residency, rest assured. But the studnet body is homogenous -- 1/4 of the class goes into orthopedics. all specialties except FP recommend that you specialize. THe learning is thorough, but so painful -- unnecessarily so in my opinion - Overall, an excellent medical school. Can tend to over-emphazise surgical specialties due to their successful history. Faculty is always available and helpful. Encourages diversity in their student population (religion, sexuality, race, culture, geographic locations, etc.) - It's a great place where you'll learn to become an outstanding clinical physician. I've learned a lot and I'm being recruited by top-tier programs for residency (I'm now applying). You'll do well coming out of Georgetown. - I couldn't be happier anywhere else.
