Overall Summary
  • - It is a very cooperative environment between the students and also with the faculty and administration. I doubt that any school could rank higher by this criteria. - The close relationship that students can establish with the faculty and staff. Because we are a school committed to health care professionals, we are the focus of the entire college. - Excellent environment for learning. - the dedication of the faculty and the camaraderie amongst the students - Cooperative environment - The support of the students is well above average as the school caters to the medical school and medical education. - student population commaraderie - There's an excellent gym on-site. - This is a fantastic school. I didn't pay much attention to MCO until I went to my interview--I think a lot of students feel that way. The teaching is great, the facilities are great, and it is a pleasant place to live. - Good experience with minority populations; Some great clinical rotations, you just have to find them; dual hospital training; rural hospital experience

12. What do you like least about your school?
Overall Summary
  • - Toledo is a pretty boring city, but not too bad for medical school. I had a blast, though and probably couldn't have been happier anywhere else. - We need a more diverse selection of 4th year electives. - lack of subinternships - Toledo can get boring at times. - The location is a little small and this makes it more difficult to find extra-curricular things to do. They are there, but it is more work to find it. And the weather... - location - The administration tries to be helpful, but they persist in doing things for the students without asking the students what things are really needed. - I'm not crazy about Toledo. It isn't terrible, though--there are plenty of fun things to do if you go out to find them. - Lack of responsibility on primary care rotations; too many students on certain rotations; increasing tuition without much explanation

13. Please share any other thoughts you may have about your school.
Overall Summary
  • - If you are considering it at all, it is certainly worth taking a serious look at. I can't recommend it enough. - MCO is a great place to be. The students are really friendly and competition is not the focus of the students here. Students help each other along. Upperclassmen advise the underclassmen and even share old books and resources. It is a great environment to learn in. The faculty are always willing to help out students all throughout our schooling at MCO. - If I had to do it again, I can't imagine wanting to go anywhere else. - Too detail oriented in the first two years. Helps the gunners, though. Easy time if you don't care about grades in the first two years. Excellent record in getting people the residencies they desire. - If you are looking at Ohio schools and glossing over MCO, please stop and take another look. MCO is a great place to get an education. I'm with patients every week as a first year. I'm also in small groups with practicing physicians for two hours every week. You get a lot of hands-on, but the academics are very tough and you have to work like crazy to keep up. It's worth it if you do!
