1. What do you like best about your school?
Overall Summary
  • - It allowed me to earn a medical degree when it is tough to get into american schools. - The island is pretty small so, there aren't a lot of distractions. You have a lot of time to study. The teaching follows the american model.
  • I love that Saba has such a diversity of students, and although we are in a competitive field, most students here are very supportive of one another.
  • Serious manner in which the school approaches medical education.
  • Location is condusive to study Facilities are nice
  • accredited in all 50 states
  • I loved the small class sizes, availability of the staff, and feeling of belonging. At Saba, I felt that all the faculty knew me and were interested in my success. During my clinical years, my questions were answered promptly and any issues were addressed.

12. What do you like least about your school?
Overall Summary
  • - It takes alot of dedication to go through a caribbean school. The teaching is fair at best and the clinical training is not the best. - That there is nothing to do on the small island. Most people either went to St.maarten over the weekend or stayed at home and studied. Also the hurricanes suck and they hit the island pretty hard. Be prepared to go without electricity or water at times, especially during hurricane season.
  • I wish the library had adequate seating for a decent study area, and I also dislike that the library only has a few resources- other than our textbooks- for deepening our knowledge and understanding.
  • Difficulty getting to the island, isolation
  • Class sizes of 70+ are outstripping space and resources Deans and admin staff often act as if students are the enemy
  • I suppose the student loan situation could use some work. I know they have tried to get federal loans without success. I do have a substantial amount of debt because of my student loans, but I'm not sure what the solution could have been.
  • Most things.

13. Please share any other thoughts you may have about your school.
Overall Summary
  • N/A
  • Overall, Saba is an excellent medical school with a terrific learning environment. It does take some time to adjust to living on the island (as so many things are unlike the states or Canada), but the atmosphere is so friendly and helpful. It would be rather hard for someone to dislike such a peaceful place.
  • I was very pleased with my educational experience at Saba! I am very grateful to my little med school and when I tell others about it, it is always with immense pride and gratitude.
  • Come here because it is a cheap way to get an MD. I got the prelim and residency I wanted, and I don't owe a bunch of money. You are required to sit through a video of a Kaplan course. This was a waste of my time. I sat in the back with headphones on and ended up with a very high score.
