Overall Summary
1. What do you like best about your school?
Overall Summary
  • The rotations in Ohio, New York, and Chicago are definitely the best thing about this school. It does give serious students a short cut to their MD by bypassing the MCATs and offering the choice of 4 and 6 year programs.
  • It was easy to get through the years in Poland. More importantly, the Polish phase is OVER!!!!!!!!!! They also have a few reps who are Polish residents that speak good english so they help with teh communication process between students and doctors, landlords, or whoever else we needed to deal with.
  • shutup
  • Lot of free time and lot of holidays
  • The Pathology and Physiology classes were taught well.
  • stafford loans, USA rotations, history and experience, approval in NY and CA, EU degree
  • the new changes- ever since 2007 medical university of Lubin has extended their teaching methods. All the programs such as intro to medicine, medical terminology have really stepped up. information which used to be taught in third year is now being introduced first year. do the the polish desire to join the EU the curriculum in this school has now tightened. Also compared to the Caribbean schools HMI allows the chance to do your rotations in poland if you fail the usmles which allows the student to not waste time and gives the student a year to study the material and pass roughly a year of rotations.

12. What do you like least about your school?
Overall Summary
  • There was serious problem in communication between administration and students. Also, some classes are taught and/or graded poorly, leaving the burden of education on the student.
  • I am studying for USMLE 1 right now and looking at the material, most of it is things we never heard of much less were taught about. I was there for 2 years and we had LOTS of issues with teachers who didn't acutally know english (they read notes to us written phonetically in Polish), so they were obviously of no help. Admin. can be slow to help eg sending papers for rotations.
  • yeah yeah
  • Lack of discipline
  • Too many things to list.
  • too many students pass that shouldn't. too many students accepted that shouldn't be.
  • nothing really HMI is starting to get a little to full themselves

13. Please share any other thoughts you may have about your school.
Overall Summary
  • Its a bare bones med school. You can learn what you need to know, but you really have to work hard to do it. There are no lecture notes or other study aids. You just have to have the drive and the focus to be able to take the most out of it and do well on your board. If I had it to do over, I would probably have applied somewhere in the carribean, just because the programs there are much more organized and established. I wouldn't rave about this school, but it isn't terrible.
  • This school is basically a means to an end goal. If you want to be a doctor and you have the drive and desire to learn, you just have to remember to not settle. For example, we never studied/learned histology or embryology b/c 1. they didn't speak English 2. we knew where the test questions came from so we just read those. It worked, we all got through Poland...the problem is now of course trying to get through the boards. So far - as far as I know - out of 17 pple in my class who have taken step 1 only 4 have passed. That's reality.
  • trueee
  • It gives you lot of free time for independent study.
  • This school is notorious for having a terrible 3rd & 4th year if you return to the US. It's very unorganized and when calling with any problems, the staff is always "at lunch" and sometimes doesn't return phone calls for over 1 week. Overall very poor management and should only be considered after every other option has been used.
  • average price, average academics, average everything. when going overseas, it might not be such a bad idea to go all averages when other schools are really good in one thing and really bad in another.
